ELEKTRIC

A pair of twins, one cisgender, one transgender - and duel heirs to the throne of Argos - are reunited after a decade by a Gods-sent mission: murder their mother to avenge their father. Brimming with revolutionary fervor, Elektric is a radical, trans woman-centered retelling of the Oresteia.

RADIO: A Musical Ghost Story

Lowell, still reeling from the loss of her brother, encounters a ghost in the showers at her gym. It sings to her in strange static only made comprehensible through her headphones. But is it a beckoning call or a warning? A musical horror film with a pulsing electronic score.

Commissioned by the UNC Greensboro Musical Theatre Program.

Cold Wet Clay

A trans man folk singer living in San Francisco infiltrates a Womyn Born Womyn commune in rural Oregon hoping to find his missing trans girlfriend, but the tender embrace of returning womanhood holds tighter than anticipated. A folk horror musical.

Emerson Mae Smith performs “Taste of You” from her and Murphy’s musical horror film RADIO: A Musical Ghost Story.

Murphy has been writing musicals with her twin sister Emerson since they were both 14 years old. Together, they developed a striking voice for the next generation of musical theatre, one that pushes boundaries of conventional content, style, and tone. Their musicals are bloody, visceral, and emotionally raw, digging into the darkest corners of humanity to unearth the life and love that exists beneath.

Lauren Marcus and Ayla Schwartz perform Murphy’s song “Lullaby” adapted from the film “The Exorcist” as a part of New Songs from Your Favorite Movies. Murphy was challenged to adapt a scene from the iconic horror film.

MUSICALS BY THE SMITH TWINS
